I guess it was time. Like all rebellions, it isn't one request, but an accumulation of things small and large that finally sets of the NO.

Cuts over the years have been an effrontery to the people of Los Angeles. The cuts always seemed like a command from the ugly stepmother. Think of the Times as Cinderella, if you want.

The problem is that this snipping has been going on so long, and the void has easily been usurped by other sources --internet, TV, radio. So other than the people who work for the Times and other mice-like devotees, Cinderella was shoved further into the bigger pit of drudgery while the rest of the world was figuring out how to utilize all these other (and often lesser) media. Not that we didn't notice. We were just busy. So the cuts continued with little public outcry.

But what finally brought this all out? Was it the passing of Otis Chandler, that served as a reminder of how far the Times has slid? One can't say, only that Cinderella finally cried out as she saw the fraying for what it was: rot.

Wait and see....
Remember, in the end, Cinderella gets her Prince Charming and lives in a castle. Keep in mind though, it's an awful long story from ballgown to slipper and no one knows what will become of those ugly stepsisters.
