Questions, Questions and more Questions?

Since this was the first union election won in almost forty years, what happens next is the most asked question the past few days in the pressroom. After speaking with Ronnie yesterday, and asking him where workers can get some answers, Ronnie asked that I direct online users to his blog, Save Our Trade, and to the links. Note, the blog is currently down so the link could not be added at this moment.

Another user sent in the following link, Union Facts, which may answer some of the questions the men and women of the pressrooms are seeking.

How will information filter down to the men and women that do not use the Internet or do not own a computer at home?

Currently there are more questions than answers, and hopefully this will change over the next few days and weeks ahead.

Now that the LAT pressroom is under union rule, can someone PLEASE commutate what is next for us, for God help us. There are 130+ skilled presspeople looking for direction now. Nobody is coming forward. This can not be handled like watching a full roll expirer. We hope this is handled on an upstairs level,
Did not want a union

The union will be out in a year, so who cares...

Why would you expect our union supporters to display any more drive and energy on union business than they do while performing their jobs on a daily basis? After all, they are hardly our best and brightest! Our only hope, now that we are a bargaining unit, is to elect pressroom delegates who have enough intelligence and motivation to adequately represent us now that we are facing the ordeal of actually having to negotiate to keep what we already had.

Still not happy and united about our dilema in OC brought on by LA pressman that are not well rounded journeymen. But it looks like we have to jump on the whining bandwagon. You guys most likely dreamin about a good contract. I hope your dreams come true. In the paper business the way it is my belief is union will not save you. In the year 2007 give me a break bad bad timing.
