What Can We Gain...Food for Thought

With all the talk in the Oly pressroom about losing this or losing that with a union contract, reverse your thinking from what we can lose to what we can gain.

Which brings to mind Vincent Normal Peale, he states people tell themselves “I’ll believe it when I see it”, and suggests using “I’ll see it when I believe it” instead.

Instead of thinking about bargaining away our fifth week of vacation, why not restore the fifth week of vacation for everyone with less than twenty-five years of service.

It holds true with the times and dates of the nomination meetings for representatives of the negotiating team, if the days and hours do not fit your schedule, suggest something that does work for you.

Enjoy the football game everyone,
Eddie

Update 8:25 p.m.

An anonymous user caught my error with Mr. Peale's name, here's the correction. Thank you.

Norman Vincent Peale (May 31, 1898December 24, 1993) was a Christian preacher and author (most notably of The Power of Positive Thinking) and a progenitor of the theory of "positive thinking".

Please, Please, oh please!!!

First- It's Norman Vincent Peale.

Second- If you take THE POWER OF POSITIVE THINKING to heart you would not ask yourself, "How do I stay in the same job and squeeze another week of vacation from the company?" You would rather ask yourself, "How can I educate and better myself so I can secure a job that commands increased benefits, like more vacation?"

You press guys are all alike. GIVE ME, GIVE ME, GIVE ME. WHAA, WHAA, WHAA.

I completely agree with you anonymous, all of us pressmen are alike; we all want a buyout package similar to what the Tribune board wrote for themselves when the company is sold or broken up.

And my prediction for you anonymous, you will remain employed by your current employer till retirement age.

We’ll miss you.
