Subject: Message from Eddy Hartenstein/Our Focus on Business

Colleagues,

As you know, the judge overseeing our Chapter 11 process has delivered his opinion and set a hearing for later this month. We are optimistic that we can make the necessary changes to our restructuring plan and win confirmation.

During the course of the bankruptcy process you have remained intensely focused on serving our readers, viewers, listeners and advertisers, as well as the local communities in which we do business. You’ve maximized the value of our high-quality content across multiple platforms and developed new ways of reaching the millions of people who rely on us every day. Our digital strategies and products are rapidly evolving to meet the needs of an expanding online and mobile audience thanks to your intelligent and innovative work. All of these efforts must continue.

The fourth quarter is traditionally the busiest time of the year for our media businesses, so it is extremely important that we stay focused on serving our customers and audiences, and that we close the year strong. Many of you also are engaged on preparing budgets and operating plans for 2012; this is critical work and extremely important for our future success. I appreciate your continued dedication and effort as we move forward.

Tribune’s most valuable asset is its talented employees. Throughout the twists and turns of the Chapter 11 process you have risen to every challenge place before you – I know you will continue to do so.

Thank you.

I still hate reading these blood soaked pom pom waving attempts to brainwash L.A. Times Employees into submission and servitude while the company is cleaning your colon at the same time!

These types of "Memos" serve but one purpose and usually clog my toilet when I'm finished wiping!

Eddy, Mr. Publisher, put Tribune's money where your mouth is and give some of it to the "TALENTED EMPLOYEES" instead of the suits if you sincerely mean what you wrote!

How can it truthfully be his opinion that the "talented employees" are Tribune's most valuable assets when HIM AND HIS OTHER RICH BUDDIES IN CHICAGO CONTINUE THE PRACTICE OF RIPPING AND LAYING EVERYONE OFF!

Do you think this mindless drivel is welcomed and inspiring to the hard working men and women who remain employed in fear of losing their jobs because of the greed exhibited by Ed and all of Zell's other money grubbing whores!

It sickens me even to think of the next sentence to write because it will not change the course of events taking place here in L.A.
unless we do something about it that is.........

It also saddens me deeply because things won't change for the betterment of angry L.A. Times workers until more are willing to not only say something, but actually do something!

These Corporate Vultures don't wait anymore for a carcass to feed...they're resorting to killing in order to feast beyond gluttony.

No Death, No Food, No Layoffs, No Bonus! OOPS. I mean "BONE US"

There is a cure for "Testicular Atrophy" USE THEM!

ORGANIZE AND JOIN US TEAMSTERS IN THE PRESSROOM AGAINST THIS EXTENSION OF WALL STREET GREED AND THE WAR ON WORKERS. DIGNITY AND RESPECT ARE WORTH FIGHTING FOR!

In Solidarity and Anger!
