More Cameras installed in Pressroom at Los Angeles Times

More Cameras installed in Pressroom

By Ronnie Pineda - President Local 140 N

I was made aware of the fact that an additional 18 cameras were installed in the reel-room and they are all supposedly facing benches where press-room employees sit during production. Be aware that whenever in the shop,  management is watching.  Believe me,  they aren't watching to see if you're doing a good job,  your being watched so that footage can be used against you.

They are only there to protect the equipment. That is why they are pointed at the benches. Management wants to protect the benches so they point the camera at the bench incase the employee is sitting down to long and causing excessive damage to these luxurious benches.
Also Greg has informed me that the blinds in the cafeteria are almost cleaned and should be up in couple of years.

There is language in the contract allowing these cameras. Why is that?

visit your nearest factory or construction site. union or non union, if they sit reading a paper and relaxing while on work time they will be looking for another job.

Maybe Ronnie should read the contracts before signing? Just a side note Ronnie, it's you're being watched, not your being watched. It's the small details that allows management sneak those great contracts by you every time.
