Digital First laying off 107 in Colorado Springs

Denver-based Digital First Media is laying off 107 workers at a Colorado Springs call center starting in late December and going into January and February of 2019, the Denver Post and others reported.
Most of the workers are in accounting or finance, according to a notice the company filed with the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment.
The work is going to GenPact, a global professional services firm that employs more than 80,000 worldwide.
Digital First is owned by New York-based hedge fund Alden Global Capital.
The laid-off employees will be eligible for income support from the U.S. Labor Department under a government program for workers laid off because of imports or work moved to a foreign country, the Colorado Springs Gazette reported
The Labor Department said that the Digital First workers qualify as the company “has acquired from a foreign country service like or directly competitive with services supplied by the workers.”
