Changes at Olympic
One definition of insanity can be said to be, doing things the same way over and over and expecting different results.
Since many of the people running the Los Angeles Times are not insane, we are doing things differently.
Above is our new pressroom manager, Johnny Walker.
This is our new Plant Manager Greg Malcolm
This is our new vice-president of production Russ (AKA Wayne) Newton. (pictured on the left)

For now, we're opening this blog to Anonymous comments. This will continue as long as civility rules. Disagree as you may, just keep it clean and stay on topic. No profanity, and no name calling. We reserve the right to moderate such comments, though the person who made it may come back and reword their message in a more civil way.
As someone once said "say it ain't so...."
ReplyDeleteWhat happened to logic and common sense?
Ed . I just have to interject.. it was insane to hire john walker in the first place ( after all isn't
ReplyDeleteit insane to threaten someone with Slitting their throat ??? )

ReplyDeletewith an American Flag taped to his back
It is so, it is like Santana once said, he who doesn't learn from the mistakes of the past is comitted to repeat them again - or something like that. It just goes to show the mentality of Kurdick and Newton. This is the best they could do after sitting on the decision for nearly four months, now you undersatnd why The Times is pulling The Trib down.
ReplyDeleteMenzo Limbo axed him the first time and I think we all know why.
Eat your beans men, we have a rough ride ahead of us.
Don't forget what I said about reoranizing the production departments under Times Community News. If this happens, you can look for lower wages and more stringent working conditions and heavier discipline. The stooges in HR are ready for it and they, in my opinion are unconscionable and are willing to do anything for the Fuhrer(s). We need to look at them as the gestapo. Trust them not. I wouldn't trust any of them.
The only thing we have in our favor at this time is that we are smarter and sneakier when we need to be. We also have our numbers. They can't beat us all if we stick together. That is our main line of defense. One for all and all for one. Don't you ever forget that.
What say you? The Rat
All I can say is, standing next to Greg and Wayne makes me appear to be much thinner than I really am.
ReplyDeleteBut on the serious side, changes are not always to our liking, but changes occur all around us all the time. It's either accept the changes with a smile, or continue thinking of the good old days, and be unhappy.
well Ed I dont know about smiling ( theres not much of that going around ) As for the "change thing " you forgot to mention that theres " bad " change & good " change " ( which one did we get ? )
ReplyDeleteI think its too early to Tell. I Know this much Russ has listend to us thats more then Shelly ever did. see the new parking for the Guys with Bikes aproved deal. As for Greg Melcome I see Him trying to get to know us and what We do.
ReplyDeleteWe should not give our leaders 3 strikes based on past proformance.
Jeezz give them a chance.
huh ...no we all think that they are weeeell past 3 strikes looking at their past " performance "
ReplyDeleteWow Big Deal, Motorcycle parking. I have a list of take aways as long as my arm and what have they given us. More take aways and chicken shit raises that don't keep up with inflation and if you throw in the added costs of medical insurance, we are definitely behind the eight ball. I haven't seen a new fish head that I have liked since Gledhill left. These guys give nothing but grief and thow out a scrap once in a while to make you think they are great guys. They take away thousands of dollars out of every hourly employees amd their families pockets and they throw out a free Rosies bbq on occasion or cheap pizza and some of our idiots are swooning. Give me a brake.
ReplyDeleteEddie start a new line on this topic and I will give you my list of takeaways. Otherwise it will get buried like it is now. What we need to give them in return is a brand new Teamsters Union Drive encompassing all of production.
The Rat
Oh " rat " I agree with you 100% but we work with a bunch of cowards , back stabbers, & kissas*es ( or if you really want to call it like it is guys with no backbone )if " they " ( and you know who you are ) havent learned bye now they never will .... but thanks for bringing that issue up
