A Day Without an Immigrant

Judging by the missing gardeners in my neighborhood, looks like over half of the workers have not shown up for work today. Will keep an eye on the online traffic reports because many downtown Los Angeles workers are being advised to use Alameda Street to access downtown today. My plant is located on Alameda and 8th Street, so I may leave a bit early to make it to work ontime.

  1. The trash haulers just showed up. I'm grateful for that.

  2. Looks like additional workers were brought into our neighborhood to complete the lawn mowing. Many of the workers do not look familiar to me.

  3. Just returned from a Valero gas station, and the place was a ghost town. But, when I went over to Home Depot, the place was packed with customers, as well as Office Max.

Heard the freeways were clear this morning, and the produce markets closed today. Our plant is located across the street from the produce market, so I guess there will be no traffic this afternoon.

  4. My gardeners didn't show up yesterday. My trash cans were still up front, the leaves scattered on the driveway. It's no big deal. I have a mower and I don't mind doing the work myself.

Hey, I can be my own low paid at-home worker.
