Topix.net, which crawls thousands of news sites and blogs and categorizes them into different topical pages, has unveiled a cleaner look and some enhancements to its search capabilities. Topix is owned by newspaper giants Gannett, Knight Ridder and Tribune Co.
The site's new search capabilities give you a one year look back at the volume of citations on a given subject. You can separate the blogs Topix indexes from traditional news sources and even use a handy chart feature to drill down further. This latter feature emulates a similar one found on Sphere. I like the way you can use this tool to fine tune the results you need but feel it needs comparative charting to become more useful. By the way, each search generates its own feed, which is found at the bottom of the page. Topix also has its own memetracker too
