Save Our Trade Website

I have found the union page for the Los Angeles Times Pressroom employees, thanks to Greg Malcolm. Seems all union information is removed from the pressroom before many of us are able to see and read it.

Save Our Trade Click here to access the site.

This does not mean I endorse the union movement at the newspaper, just attempting to give both sides equal exposure.

Someone sounds bitter over there... OCoperator since you never have taken the opportunity to get to know those individuals who have taken
the time to educate people about Labor Law... You on the other hand sound like a grumpy old fart

Question ocoperator was it the truth on that website looks like it from here .And attacking those " pastermakers "credibility" does not make you anti-union folks look very smart

    Peace be with you

Just my opinion Mark K. is not only a wonderful person. But also a great leader for us in production.Somebody has to fill the shoes and i feel he has been doing a great job.I know he can not please everybodys wishes but he has a job to do and needs to please his bosses. Most likely he is doing the best he can.We can sit back and say he is doing this wrong and this wrong. But he has been in this buisness as long as most of us presspeople. Cut him some slack it is a very fast changing buisness he is doing a great job. I just hope he can smooth and polish Russ up a bit.Remember he is original Times Brother Peace

    Hey, O.C. Operator,
(AKA) (name deleted by blog administrator),

I thought we were done with this type of nonsense. You should show a little courage and not hide behind an anonymous blog post. Do you think you are above anyone who does not hold the title of operator? You are like a captain without a ship, YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE A CREW!I am sure no one working downstairs will appreciate you labeling them as mere "paster makers" We are all Journeyman pressman and presswomen and perform more than just prepare make-ups.
Let's see if the next time you are given a crew to operate, how much will your crew downstairs be willing to do for you since you think so little of their skills.
Now as far as my credibility, it is beyond reproach.
For someone who has the skeletons in their closet that you do, I don't think you should be casting any stones.
Understand this (name deleted by blog administrator), you do not know me and if you would like to discuss the Union and it's benefits with me I'd be more than willing to educate you personally.
I hear the skeltons knocking on the closet door....

  11. Dear Readers,

My moderator (Jesse) contacted me regarding a comment using a first and last name of an anonymous user.

We talked over the phone on the options we had before us.

We could (1) reject the comment (2)post the comment as is (3) or edit out the name.

    Option three was our decision.

Responding to ronnie.Just to let you know i do have a crew.Do you? Also never said operator was above other pressman and presswomen. You must feel a little insecure i am so sorry. Some journeymen would struggle in a union shop with skills as making pasters and plating up.Sorry you are stuggling in great workplace in OC PEACE

Union dues are deductible to the extent that they exceed 2 percent of your gross income!under miscellaneous deductions, So if you make 70000 per year you wouldnt deduct anything below 1400 dollars, not one cent! only amounts above 2 percent are deductible and very likely that doesnt apply to many. Look at Schedule A on fed tax forms for yourself.

You sound a little wired to me. Your just not getting it, or maybe your not getting any, or maybe you don't want to get it, or maybe you can't get it anymore.
    Get a life!
