Ed,
Hal passed away this afternoon. There will not be an open funeral (at Hal's request arrangments are private). I've tried to attach some photo's I have of Hal at work. Hal started at the LA Times as a utility man on November 13, 1947 and retired on September 30, 1991 as the Manager of the Olympic pressroom when it opened.
A couple of quotes from Happy Hal the Pressman's Pal...
" Ya don't worry about the monkey's throwing cocanuts when the elephants are stampeding" and "It's okay if you don't know what to do just make sure its the right thing then do it!"
Hal Fleming was a beautiful human being, they don't mak'em like him any more.
Rick
