LOS ANGELES TIMES ANNOUNCES PRESIDENTIAL ENDORSEMENTS

LOS ANGELES TIMES ANNOUNCES FIRST PRESIDENTIAL
ENDORSEMENTS SINCE 1972

LOS ANGELES, February 1, 2008 – The Los Angeles Times editorial board has endorsed Senator John McCain and Senator Barack Obama in this year’s presidential primary election, marking the first such endorsement since 1972. The full transcript of the endorsement can be viewed on The Times Web site at www.latimes.com/opinion and will run in this Sunday Opinion section.

The endorsements come on the heels of a series of editorials published in The Times throughout December under the banner, “American Values and the Next President”

(www.latimes.com/values08), culminating with an editorial about the pending endorsement and inviting readers to share their views with the paper.
