Compeers,

Depending what meeting with Sam you attended, you heard some colorful uses of the lexicon that we are not used to hearing at the Times. I think he does this to make a point and in an attempt to change culture quickly. That said, we still have the same expectations at the Times of what is correct and not correct language to use in the workplace. Another way to say the same thing, we will not tolerate profane or hostile language in the workplace used in a demeaning or abusive way. Viewing pornography on the job at any time without a doubt is not good judgment. The same goes for offensive sexual references, degrading or insulting language of any kind. In short, nothing changes. Sam is a force of nature, the rest of us are bound by the normal conventions of society.

    Certainly the Times has filters to block porn?
    Seems to me that anyone viewing porn can easily be tracked through cookies. So really, unless you want to lose your job, it's best you don't do this at work.

    hey russ does that include sexual harassment ,such as the last incident several months ago with that fellow pressman had that "dildo" and a fellow PRESSWOMAN found it demeaning but the "investagation" ruled ...that "particular" individual was horseing around

    Give it a break. The guy is trying to make sure people are not caught off guard and think they can do the wrong things just because the top guy shocked everyone. He is trying to make sure people are aware and safe.

    Russ you don't get it. useing the words (nothing changed) is a tricket out of here. Hope you got your bags packed? We have been over due for a change from the Tribune way of running this paper into the ground.I only hope it's not to late!!!
