Where's The New Production at Olympic?
The much anticipated Wall Street Journal and Barrons, that was to commence production at the Los Angeles Times Olympic Facility this month, has been mired in negotiations over slim profit margins. I’m told miscalculations in energy usage and possible overtime issues are the reasons for the delay.
The press crews are in place and the newsprint has arrived, but if we're employing the same individuals that are currently negotiating with the pressmen’s union, don’t expect to see any new production at the Los Angeles Times anytime soon.

God Ed..... Wake up!!!!
ReplyDeleteAgain if The Times can't make a profit on the work why should they do it... just to give you a job?
The Times is not in the business of creating jobs, the Times is in the business of making money, always has! That's why we have never been able to get these "printing jobs" before and why they have gone to other smaller papers in Southern California!
Ed you guys are going to have to give up something before this type of work will come your way. And sending letters to our advertisers is not the way to do it!!!!
Eddie, Don't let these idots rattle you. That is the only reason they are posting against the union. They are trying to drive a wedge between you. With The Times and The Trib in such dire finacial straights, they won't dare chance a strike, lock-out, or try to bring scabs into operate the plant. They would be belly-up in no time at all. You don't want this either, but it is a great time to be calling their bluff. Hang in there.
