Tours of Pressroom by Employees Now Banned


On Tuesday June 3, 2008 Paul Gillin from Newspaper Death Watch happened to be in the Los Angeles area for business, and requested a personal tour, which I naturally agreed to. I was told to keep Mr. Gillin in the cafeteria because the pressroom is such a dangerous place for outsiders to visit, even though the presses were idle this particular day.

After two verbal reprimands, I assumed this matter was closed until my crew foreman delivered the memo below to me this morning. John Walker’s memo is in verbatim.

All,

Just a reminder. If any of you should be asked by any of our personnel if they can give a tour the answer is no. They need to be directed to Mr. Darrell Kunitoni he can be reached at Ext. 73178. He is the person responsible for the scheduling of any tours.

    Scheduling those will be a neat trick, seeing as Darrell took the buyout back in March.

    David Hiller canceled Darrell’s termination at the twelfth hour, so we still continue to have one tour guide on staff at the Los Angeles Times.
