While visiting friends in Sacramento two weeks ago I paid the Sacramento Bee a short visit, and discovered something different to generate some additional cash. As most newspapers have reached staffing limits through layoffs, many are seeking alternatives in locating lost revenue to the digital world.
After the newsprint is spent the remaining newsprint and cores are recycled by weight at a very low rate, the Sacramento Bee has found a way to generate much more money by selling the used newsprint cores to the public.
Without being specific I was told they sell many of the used cores to the public, something other newspapers may want to give a shot at as revenues for the hard copy of newspapers continue there slide downwards.
