By Michael Higby,
Some of you who didn't grow up here in LA in the 50s, 60s and 70s have asked who Sheriff John was. He was the host of an awesome children's show that aired everyday on KTTV. They emphasized patriotism, safety, good health habits and clean living. He was just a really nice man. Here's a clip to give you an idea of the show.
On October 2 (2009), iconic "Sheriff John" turns ninety years old. During the 1950 -60 eras, "Sheriff John" was a very popular TV personality playing a friendly, fatherly law enforcement officer that hosted two Southern California kiddie shows: the "SHERIFF JOHN'S LUNCH BRIGADE (
11:30am to
12:30pm), and an afternoon show called the "SHERIFF JOHN'S CARTOON TIME". From my understanding, many Southern California Baby Boomers are sending "Sheriff John" birthday cards and letters of best wishes for this special event to KTTV FOX - Channel 11's local LA station address that can found on their website.
