Los Angeles Times Rejected this Advertisment from the Courage Campaign Institute

Last week, the Los Angeles Times rejected this ad, designed by Courage Campaign and Daily Kos. Yesterday at their headquarters, they rejected a cadre of our volunteers trying to deliver over 100,000 of YOUR signatures.

(1) Today, they're backing down.(2) After being embarrassed in the media for censorship, they'll run our ad.

We're not stopping at the Los Angeles Times -- we'll run our ad on Facebook, in The New York Times, The LA Weekly, and the Chicago Tribune if we can raise the funds to do so.

It's a victory for supporters of independent journalism today that the Los Angeles Times backed away from its censorship of our ad. However, it's also a very loud warning bell -- this type of censorship and worse is what readers can expect if the Los Angeles Times is sold to the Koch brothers, Rupert Murdoch, or any other right-wing ideologue who wants to turn the second largest newspaper in the country into their personal megaphone.

We won't let that happen. For every $8.40 you chip in, we can get this in front of 10,000 of their 439,748 Facebook fans.

Wonderful volunteers carrying the voices and signatures of thousands of concerned activists carried the day yesterday. But if David and Charles Koch get their hands on the Los Angeles Times, it's doubtful they'd listen in the next fight.

Fund the ad. Save the Times. We need journalism, not another Fox News.

Thanks for all you did this week,
Gabe, along with Adam, Aidan, Annie, Anthony, Caitlin, Christian, Eddie, Jacob C., Jacob W., Loretta, Michael, Rick, Sarah and Scottie (the Courage team)

Why is it wrong to right of center but not left of center? What's wrong with a newspaper that is right of center compared to one that is left of center?
