The Tribune Co. has begun mailing out information regarding the changes to the current 401K savings plan, which is not easily understood. Apparently the savings plan is currently mired in a lawsuit to recover funds from people that sold stock during the 2007 take over. Thus those plans will be frozen and new plans opened under Spinco (they don't call it that).
The 401K materiel is currently under review and will be summarized and translated into plain English by some of our colleagues in the editorial department at the Los Angeles Times.
I will publish their summary as soon as it becomes available.
