Understanding the Tribune Mailing

Many former and current Tribune Employees are questioning what the Tribune mailing means, which Brett Levy has kindly taken the time to summarize the material for us.
Thank you Brett

By Brett Levy,

Very little was discussed about the Tribune Company Cash Pension -- NOT Times Mirror -- Balance Plan, which was frozen at the end of 2009, but the memo hints that more updates are coming. The essential points:

1. From the standpoint of the Cash Pension Plan, the plan will consider the split of Tribune Company to be the Pension Plan's calculated separation date. The wording here is very vague, and it's hard to draw any conclusions.

2. If you are eligible, you may be able to make take a distribution.

3. If you leave money in the account, it will continue to earn interest.

You may be eligible to start earning pension payments.

In addition, I have the Tribune mailing in the PDF format, if you would like a copy drop an email to me and I will reply with the file attached.
