Hello everyone —
We have big news!
We know you have been eager to vote on forming a union at the Los Angeles Times and, finally, we have a date for the election: Thursday, January 4, 2018.
This is a historic moment for this newsroom, capping months of conversations on what we can do to safeguard the future of the Los Angeles Times and its journalists.
Voting will take place from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Times headquarters in downtown (in the first-floor community room) and at the Orange County offices (in the third floor southeast conference room). A limited number of off-site employees will receive mail-in ballots.
This date is the result of back-and-forth negotiations with Tronc to avoid a drawn-out hearing process. The National Labor Relations Board approved the agreement minutes ago.
We know the holidays are hectic. But it is critical that you take the time to come in and vote. Unless you’re in the small group of employees who will receive mail-in ballots, you must cast your ballot in person, in the office where you work.
Ballots are secret and management will never see your vote.
We are so excited to take this next step. If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out or contact members of the organizing committee. We want to hear from you!
We’ll stay in touch in the coming days to provide more details on the process. Thank you again for all of your support — we will do this together!
Hey ED tell them they can have the vote in the roller room , maybe Lee C & Rick S can learn something
