All,
As we approach this crucial decision on whether to unionize, we know you’ve heard the back-and-forth on both sides of the issue. We urge you to take a minute to watch a video from Lee Carey, a Los Angeles Times’ press operator who has worked for the Times since 1981. He and his colleagues have been represented by a union since 2007 and he shares his thoughts about the unionization process since then. Please take a look at the video and accompanying post at LATfacts.com (which we’ve copy and pasted below) to understand more about the experience Lee and others there have had prior to trying to decertify the union.
We have argued that unionization will not and cannot address our industry’s extremely difficult business conditions. We also know that this choice you are about to make is an important one for you individually. More than anything else, we urge you to vote on Thursday to make sure your voice is heard.
Thanks, Lewis and Jim
