Trust in America ’s mainstream print media is
up across the political spectrum despite Pres. Trump’s attacks against the
mainstream media, according to pollster YouGov, working for The Economist.
People who claimed they would or did pull the lever for Hillary Clinton in 2016 now trust The New York Times and The Washington Post more, and Fox News less, than they did two years ago. That’s rather predictable. Yet even among people who like the president, net trust of Trump’s frequent targets has risen, although not nearly as much, according to YouGov.
Over the past two years, the New York Times’ monthly online readership has doubled, to 130 million.
During the same period, trust in two media outlets that are considered more sympathetic to Trump, Fox News and Breitbart, has markedly fallen, according to The Economist.
