The New York Times is debuting “The Argument,”
a new podcast hosted by opinion columnists Ross Douthat,
Michelle Goldberg and David Leonhardt.
Each week starting
Oct. 11, the three, along with special guests, will guide listeners through the
news with their signature commentary and discourse to help them navigate the
arguments shaping and reshaping the direction of the country, according to The
Times.
“This show will be different from most other political podcasts in one major way: Ross, Michelle and David often disagree — about a lot of things. They are not going to shy away from those disagreements because candid conversation between people who see the world very differently is essential,” says a news release from The Times.
“We’re really at risk of losing sight of the notion that disagreement can be constructive — that it’s pretty rare for any of us to be entirely right or wrong about anything,” said James Bennet, editorial page editor at The Times.
“Our columnists have strong, hard-earned convictions, but they also remain deeply curious about why others might see things differently, and I look forward to hearing them hash out the big questions of our times,” he said.
New episodes will be released weekly on Thursdays. “The Argument” will be available on NYTimes.com and wherever podcasts are available.
