The Bastrop Daily Enterprise (Louisiana )
published its last paper on March 29, after 118 years of history in the city of
Bastrop , the
paper said.
The paper
was launched in 1901 by B. F. Schroeder, who came to Bastrop
from New Orleans ,

“Like many
newspapers in small cities and towns across the country, The Daily Enterprise
has been wounded by shrinking advertising markets both locally and nationally,”
the paper said.
“The Daily
Enterprise has served this community for generations,” said Matt Guthrie,
Southwest regional vice president for owner GateHouse Media. “I can’t thank
them enough for their years of dedication,” Guthrie said of staff past and
recent.
Subscribers
to The Daily Enterprise will receive refunds within 30 days for the balance of
their subscriptions, the paper said.
