Cuba’s economic troubles hit state-run papers

Cuba is reducing pages and lowering circulation at a number of state-run papers, citing a newsprint shortage, Reuters and others reported.
The country imports newsprint to produce the papers.
Papers affected include the Communist Party daily Granma and the Union of Young Communists’ newspaper, Juventud Rebelde, which will no longer be produced on Saturdays.
The Communist government said that it was cutting in half the size of Granma and some weeklies, Reuters said.
The country is experiencing an economic crisis and shortage of many goods.
