The country
imports newsprint to produce the papers.
Papers
affected include the Communist Party daily Granma and the Union of Young
Communists’ newspaper, Juventud Rebelde, which will no longer be produced on
Saturdays.
The
Communist government said that it was cutting in half the size of Granma and
some weeklies, Reuters said.
The country
is experiencing an economic crisis and shortage of many goods.
