The Pilot buys SouthPark Magazine

The Pilot (Southern Pines, North Carolina) has bought SouthPark Magazine, based in Charlotte, the paper said.
The Pilot bought the magazine from The Charlotte Observer Publishing Company, the owners of The Pilot’s Business North Carolina magazine announced. The deal closed March 22. Terms of the deal were not made public, the paper reported.
“We envision a magazine with a soul. We want SouthPark Magazine to surprise its readers and to delight in bringing them the stories of Charlotte they never knew or have long since forgotten,” said David Woronoff, president and publisher of The Pilot. “We look forward to making sure SouthPark develops an authentically Charlotte voice.”
SouthPark Magazine was founded in 1996. More than 30,000 copies go out monthly.
With the acquisition, The Pilot now owns six magazines.
