Amazon wants publishers to widen global reach

Amazon is working with the New York Times, BuzzFeed and other U.S. publishers to get them to widen their international reach concerning shopping sites, Recode reports.
Amazon pays publishers that send shoppers to Amazon through their sites, and now “sources say Amazon has been proposing various deals that would give publishers money up front in order to expand their international sites or open up new markets,” Recode says.
Recode says it’s unknown what geographic areas Amazon is targeting and if Amazon would pay for publishers’ growth or if it would want to get paid back through money that comes through the affiliate links.
Amazon, BuzzFeed and the Times declined to comment to Recode on the matter.
