Apple is looking to make some changes to its Apple News
Plus subscription bundle, publishers who’ve communicated with the company say,
Business Insider reported.
The bundle,
available through news-reading app Apple News, costs $10 a month for access to
more than 300 publications. Apple launched the package in late March.
Some
publishing insiders who spoke to Business Insider said the money they’d earned
so far with the service did not impress them and in some cases was lower than
with predecessor Texture. The Wall Street Journal New York magazine, Vox, and
The Skimm, Business Insider and large chains Hearst, Meredith, and Conde Nast
user the service.
Insiders
said Apple had looked for guidance from them in meetings since the product came
to market, Business Insider reported.
Among the
issues are possible user confusion about what’s free, whether the layout works
for news content and the idea that the product is not as polished as Apple’s
offerings often are, according to Business Insider.
Some
insiders are still hopeful that the product can move a lot of subscriptions if
the issues are worked out, Business Insider said.
