Blackshear Times sold to MC Gardner Publishing

MC Gardner Publishing Company has bought The Blackshear (Georgia) Times, the paper reported. The change happened with the July 3 issue, the paper said.
Times Editor and Publisher Robert M. Williams Jr. and his wife, Cheryl, were the owners of the paper. Matt Gardner, formerly of Baxley, Georgia, and Folkston, Georgia, and his wife Carrie, were planning to move to Blackshear, where Matt was to become the latest editor and publisher in The Times’ 150-year history.
The paper covers Georgia’s Pierce County
Matt Gardner represents a third generation of his family in the newspaper business, the paper said. He was made the managing editor of the Baxley-News Banner in 2009 and editor of the Charlton County Herald in 2016.
