TikTok launching audience network

TikTok is starting an audience network, CNBC and AdWeek reported.
Through an audience network, advertisers who purchase ad spots on TikTok can also purchase ad spots on other apps simultaneously.
TikTok has made the capability available in Japan and is testing it in China and elsewhere in Asia, where’s it’s called Douyin, AdWeek reported.
Facebook and Snapchat have audience networks. Facebook’s launched in 2014, and Snapchat’s this spring.
TikTok was the top downloaded app on iOS worldwide in 2018. Teens use the app to make short videos. The app has faced scrutiny in the U.S. and U.K. for the way it gathers children’s data. The Federal Trade Commission fined it $5.7 million in February, and the U.K.’s Information Commissioner’s Office said it’s looking into possible TikTok violations of the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), according to CNBC.
Private Chinese company ByteDance owns TikTok.
