The Kentucky Standard (Bardstown) will cease publishing its
Friday edition beginning in November, the paper announced.
The paper will go to twice weekly after the production of its
last Friday edition on Nov. 1. Going forward, the paper will print on
Wednesdays and Saturdays.
“This is a business decision driven by one factor —
advertising,” said Scott Moore, publisher of The Standard. Moore said the Friday edition has been the
weakest in terms of advertising for some years.
“The Standard is a solid newspaper financially, but we face the
same challenges that the industry as a whole is dealing with,” Moore said.
Landmark Community Newspapers bought The Standard from Scripps
in 1987.
