July 24 hearing to approve a McClatchy buyer

A federal bankruptcy judge has okayed McClatchy’s rules for potential buyers, and a hearing to approve a buyer is set for July 24, the Fresno Bee reported. McClatchy owns the Bee.
Sacramento-based McClatchy said all interested parties are prepared to enter initial bids by this week, the Bee said.
In April Judge Michael E. Wiles had ordered the company and creditors to provide him with an agreed-upon bid process and a timetable. A plan was provided to the court and Wiles agreed to it with some tweaks, the paper said.
McClatchy owns the Miami Herald, the Kansas City Star, the Sacramento Bee, the Charlotte Observer, the (Raleigh) News & Observer and the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, among other papers.
