Charlie Plowman, owner of Outlook Newspapers in La Canada
Flintridge, has acquired three closed papers from the Los Angeles Times’ parent
company, the LA Times reported.
Terms of the deal weren’t made public.
Due to COVID-19, the Burbank Leader, Glendale
News-Press and La Canada Valley Sun were closed by The Times’ owner, California
Times, earlier in April.
Plowman publishes the La Canada Outlook, the
Pasadena Outlook and titles in South Pasadena
and San Marino .
His plan is to merge the two La Canada
papers into one paper and reboot the Glendale
and Burbank
papers.
The 14 community news staff members who lost
positions as part of the closures won’t be going to Outlook Newspapers, the LA
Times reported.
