Bascobert out at Gannett

Paul Bascobert and Gannett have ended Bascobert’s stint as CEO of its operating company, Gannett Media Corp., as the board has eliminated the position, the company announced June 18.
“Bascobert’s departure is not the result of any inappropriate action by Mr. Bascobert, any violation of company policy, any accounting irregularity or any material deterioration in the business of the company,” said an announcement from Gannett. The move is part of an effort to streamline the operating structure of the company, the announcement said.
Michael Reed, chairman and CEO of Gannett, has assumed Bascobert’s responsibilities.
Bascobert came on with Gannett as president and CEO in August, before the Gannett/GateHouse merger, which was completed in November.
