Companies form Dan’s Independent Media

Dan’s Hamptons Media and The Independent have joined to form one company, Dan’s Independent Media, the company announced.
It’s a “seismic shift on Long Island’s East End,” writes the New York Post. Ron Perelman-owned weekly The Independent will stop its print edition and merge with Dan’s Papers, once known as the Montauk Pioneer.
Terms of the deal weren’t made public.
Richard Burns, owner of Dan’s Papers, will be chair of the board. Perelman will be vice chairman, but represented by Josh Vlasto, a former chief of staff of Gov. Andrew Cuomo, the Post reported.
Perelman purchased The Independent three years ago from advertising’s Jerry Della Femina, the Post said.
