Twelve new reporting jobs will soon be added in South Carolina , McClatchy announced and The State (Columbia ) reported.
The new
jobs will be funded with money saved through combining McClatchy printing
facilities in the Carolinas , the paper said.
The State’s
printing and packaging operations are relocating to Charlotte and Raleigh and
70 full-time and 65 part-time workers will lose jobs, said State publisher
Rodney Mahone.
The new
jobs include five new Report for America
positions in South Carolina
that had been announced before. Along with Columbia ,
McClatchy has newsrooms in Myrtle Beach , Hilton
Head and Rock Hill
and reporters in Clemson and Beaufort, the paper said.
