• Providence Business News (Rhode Island) is going from a a weekly to twice a month, GoLocalProv reported.
• Times-Journal Inc. has bought the Morgan County Citizen weekly in Madison, Georgia, the Marietta Daily Journal reported.
• The Washington Post is adding over 150 jobs to its newsroom in 2021, The Hill reported. The Post announced that it’s creating breaking-news hubs in London and Seoul. The Post is also setting up new foreign bureaus in Sydney and Bogota.
• The NCH Healthcare System has bought the Naples Daily News building, the paper reported. Gannett owns the paper.
• The Alexandria Gazette Packet (Virginia) has launched a GoFundMe, saying, “The pandemic has crushed many newspapers across the country, and one of America's oldest newspapers and its affiliated Connection Newspapers, websites and digital media is at risk.”
• In December, the Association for PRINT Technologies (APTech) elected its board of directors for 2021 and added to its ranks several new members, including five new printing and mailing members who join the four print service providers already serving on the board. Nick Bruno, CEO of Harris and Bruno International, was elected as chair of APTech for 2021, succeeding Deirdre Ryder, CEO of VITS International. This follows news of APTech’s partnership with association management company Innovatis Group. That company will work with APTech to identify ways to bring the print industry together, says an APTech release.
