Westplex Media Group announced July 28 that it has agreed to buy the Moberly Monitor-Index (Missouri) from Gannett. It is the fourth community paper in Westplex’s portfolio.
Dirks, Van Essen & April, a media M&A firm based in New Mexico, represented Gannett in the transaction. Terms of the transaction, expected to close on Sept. 1, were not disclosed.
Westplex is owned by Tim Schmidt. Schmidt founded Westplex in 2018 when he bought the Montgomery Standard, a weekly in Montgomery City, Missouri.
