Six weeklies published by the Daily Messenger (Canandaigua, New York) will stop publication the week of Oct. 24, the Daily Messenger reported. Gannett owns the papers.
The papers stopping publication are the Ontario Post , Monroe Post South, Monroe Post West, Monroe Post North, Wayne Post and Wayne County Pennysaver.
The moves comes after the 2019 merger of GateHouse Media and Gannett. The merger meant some coverage areas overlapped, said Michael Kilian, New York state editor for Gannett and executive editor of the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle, according to the Daily Messenger.
