More than $36 million, as it turns out. At least, that's what bidders hailing from as far away as Europe and Asia collectively agreed to pay Saturday for the late Los Angeles Times publisher's collection at an Oxnard auction.

Funny how fast time has passed. Seems like just yesterday that he passed away. Now his cars are gone too.

Do you remember race cars stored at the LAT Alameda garage? On more than one occasion car carrier trucks pulled in amongst the LAT fleet and dropped a new toy for Otis. Otis often spent time there with the drivers and his best friend, LAT Garage supervisor, J.T.
