David Hiller Visits Oly Again

The new publisher of the Los Angeles Times is making the rounds attempting to meet as many employees as possible.

I'm sure he's tired, as he has been on the go for five days now.

David Skilliter (sic) gave a brief update on trimming back sixty truck runs.

Russ Newton said we would have raises for 2007, but was unable to give an exact figure at this time.

Mark Kurtich explained how cashflow works in laymen terms, which many appreciated, and some did not.

Mr. Hiller answered many questions from the audience on different subjects regarding the newspaper and what may happen in the future with the Tribune Company.

Reactions were mixed from the men and women that produce the newspaper on Mr. Hiller.

Editors Comment; Mark Kurtich's explanation of cashflow was extremely helpful to the majority in attendance at yesterday's Town Hall Meeting. Cashflow= income - expenses I was asked if Mr. Kurtich was not communicating well yesterday. I felt Mark's definition of cashflow was understandable for many of us in the manner it was presented. It seems no matter what anyone from management at the newspaper communicates to the workforce, someone will find fault or question it.
