New York magazine parent cuts 32

New York magazine’s parent company is cutting 32 people, around 5 percent of the company’s staff, as part of a restructuring.
New York Media also owns Vulture, Grub Street, Intelligencer, The Cut and The Strategist.
The cuts include 16 full-timers and 16 part-timers and freelancers, according to the New York Post.
"As part of our long-term planning process, we took a hard look at our existing structure and roles in an effort to most effectively organize our resources around our business strategy," wrote CEO Pam Wasserstein in a memo to employees, CNN reported. "I believe this restructuring is necessary to put us on the firmest possible footing as an independent company, though that does not make today any less painful.”
The News Guild unionized 120 editorial workers last fall, but no contract had been worked out yet.
In January, the company announced that David Haskell will succeed Editor-in-Chief Adam Moss April 1.
