Strategist.
The cuts
include 16 full-timers and 16 part-timers and freelancers, according to the New York Post.
"As
part of our long-term planning process, we took a hard look at our existing
structure and roles in an effort to most effectively organize our resources
around our business strategy," wrote CEO Pam Wasserstein in a memo to
employees, CNN reported. "I believe this restructuring is
necessary to put us on the firmest possible footing as an independent company,
though that does not make today any less painful.”
The News
Guild unionized 120 editorial workers last fall, but no contract had been
worked out yet.
In January,
the company announced that David Haskell will succeed Editor-in-Chief Adam Moss
April 1.
