The Southern California News Guild is fast approaching a strike deadline

At the end of an all-day bargaining session yesterday, we told management they have a deadline of 12:01 am, Monday, Nov. 4, to bargain in good faith and present us with an acceptable proposal or we will begin our ULP strike.
After 2+ years of the company’s bad-faith bargaining tactics, including stalling and regressive proposals, we did make progress last night. But it’s not enough yet.
We are prepared to go on a ULP strike just before Election Day if we do not reach a deal.
We invite our allies to join us for a practice picket on Nov. 2 in Santa Ana to show the company, the public, and our co-workers that we are sticking together to win the contract we deserve.

and our members, we have launched a donation page to help raise funds in the event of a strike.
At the time of this post, $4,586 had been raised for the strike fund:
Funds will go directly to members to make up for wages lost during the strike so these journalists can continue to pay for basic needs.

This is being organized by Destiny Torres and Charlie Vargas, members of the SCNG Guild. Funds will go to newsroom members.
