LA TIMES CHAOS: Current Publisher Fired; Tribune Toadie Hired; Baquet Shows Himself To Be Gutless Wonder
UPDATED THROUGHOUT: OK, so now Dean Baquet is supposed to be staying put. What an incredible gutless wonder! Shame on him. Really, Baquet's seeming decision just shows he cares only about his own ass. Because clearly he's still going to have fire all those staff asses. Unless, of course, he's looking to stage some dramatic "pang of conscience" moment in the very near future for maximum publicity value. At least now journalism can stop characterizing him as "Dean of Arc" and start referring to him as he really is: "Cover-Your-Backside Baquet".

Ed,I know you know about this but did Jeff want to go to Disneyland or spend more time with his family ? The only guy who had enough balls to stand up to those yahoos in Chicago.Goes to show you a company will do what they want to do.
Hi Eddie I read this article and thought I did not know Mr Johnson but I wanted to thank him for trying to keep somebodys job, doing the right thing is hard in an era where most excutives follow the crowd trying to get to the top I'm sorry Mr Johnson lost his job I thank him for doing what was right looking out for his employee's and the L.A. times. tribune exc's should have realized this is a leader He's thinking for all not himself and telling us another view ,not what top excutive wants to hear its amazing how people are thrown away so easy in this era of koas thank you Mr Johnson for stepping up for those who have no voice Rick Hernandez O.C pressroom
I have to say, Nikke Finke's writing is ALL over the place.
Can someone follow her logic, which bounces about like a golfball with its cover taken off?
It's inconsistent in tone and has an unclear POV. It's annoying. In short, that's why she doesn't write for the Times.
