The News-Sentinel (Fort
Wayne , Indiana )
laid off nearly all its employees Aug. 10, WFYI of Indianapolis reported.
Knight-Ridder bought the
News-Sentinel from the Foellinger family in 1980. In 2006, McClatchy bought the
paper. It’s now owned by Ogden Newspapers.
The paper operates in a joint
operating agreement with the Fort Wayne Journal Gazette, locally owned by the
Inskeep family.
In 2017, the paper
mostly stopped print production and publishes only online at news-sentinel.com.
“The digital-first operation of News-Sentinel.com will continue to provide
the Fort Wayne
community a reliable and relevant news source, focused on the local events and
issues that most directly impact the lives of our readers,” said the paper in
its announcement of the news.
The paper also has dedicated pages in
The Journal Gazette each Monday through Saturday.
