Job Description Summary
Designation as a Electro Technician requires demonstrated proficiency and expertise in the application of technical knowledge to complete complex, critical tasks and projects in the key production departments in Operations. Incumbents in senior positions possess sufficient depth in most, if not all, of the critical areas that enable them to assume leadership roles on projects.
JOB DESCRIPTION
MAJOR JOB OBJECTIVES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Diagnose and troubleshoot platemaking systems and equipment such as PDS System, Exposure Units, Developers, Vision Benders, Punch Coater.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex problems on all electrical and electronic systems in the pressroom such as APCS System & Network, Rockwell System & Network, UNIT Level: All functions, calibrations and adjustments, DRINK, MAC, RTP Level: All functions, calibrations and adjustments, Drive System, Ancillary equipment.
- Resolve problems in the master control system, troubleshoot and resolve communications problems between all electronic, optical, and electric components of the bulk handling system and interrelated systems within the Packaging & Distribution departments such as Collector/Palletizer System, SIA, Stackers, Counter System.
- Must have full understanding of the distribution of electrical power throughout the entire facility.
- Responsible for the transfer switchgear from DWP/SCE to Emergency generators.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
- Technical training and coursework as Electrician or Electronic Technician.
- General education; High school diploma
Work Experience:
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in an industrial repair and maintenance department of a large-scale printing operation.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
- Knowledge and demonstrated proficiency with AC/DC electrical systems, NEC regulations, AC/DC/Digital electronics systems, control systems, communications systems, power distribution systems, ladder logic, and motor control.
- Ability to utilize all relevant test equipment.
- Working knowledge of computers and related software.
- Strong teamwork skills.
- Basic math skills required.
- Effective communication skills – verbal and written
- Ability to work different shifts - flexible days and times.
- Adhere to department safety rules and guidelines at all times

- May be required to work in restricted spaces, from a prone position, and/or under difficult lighting and access conditions.
- Noise level may be high when operating power equipment.
- May be exposed to outside weather conditions especially in emergency repair situations.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Required to use properly use such safety equipment as is appropriate to the work to prevent injury to self or others.
