The Post, The Coalfield Progress and The Dickenson Star
(Virginia) have been sold to a Missouri-based newspaper firm, LCP2, an
affiliate of Lewis County Press, The Coalfield Progress reported.
The sale
comes as American Hometown Publishing, which bought the papers in 2005, is
shutting down, the paper reported. Other American Hometown Publishing
properties in Tennessee , Oklahoma ,
North Carolina and Florida have been sold or are being sold,
the paper reported.
LCP2 had
previously bought another AHP paper, in Blackwell ,
Oklahoma . It also has 10 other
papers, mainly in Missouri but also in Arkansas , Oklahoma , Texas and Kentucky , The
Coalfield Progress said.
Two jobs in
Norton (Coalfield Progress) involving circulation and business office functions
have been lost, the paper said.
The sale of
the papers didn’t involve any company real estate. Buildings in Norton and
Clintwood have been for sale for several years, the paper reported.
