1954 : Following a number of crashes of the Comet aircraft it's certificate of airworthiness is withdrawn while an inquiry into why the crashes occurred, the inquiry found the problems were most likely due to metal fatigue. The Comet was the first commercial Jet airline that helped to change air travel and during the time the De Havilland Comet was grounded the American aircraft manufacturer, Boeing, took the lead in design and sales when it released its 707 passenger jet, which could carry almost twice as many passengers.19 Oct, 1927 - Australia Aborigines

1937 : A mountaineer is the only person who has provided an eyewitness account to the worst airplane disaster in US history and has told how he saw the pilot of the United Airlines 21 passenger mainliner flying blind through a mountain blizzard snowstorm skimming pines before crashing into the side of the Uinta Mountains in Utah 80 miles south of Salt Lake City.
